Taking the Show on RoadWWF Pakistan’s Wetlands Nature Carnival 2010

Sunday, February 22th 2010:February 21st, 2010. WWF Pakistan organised a Wetlands Nature Carnival 2010 on Sunday at Ali Institute of Education, Ferozepur Road, Lahore.
Thousands of visitors lured to WWF Pakistan Wetlands Nature Carnival sponsored by Nestle Pakistan, Cosponsored by Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and The Ministry of Environment, Pakistan Wetlands Programme, when it opened in Lahore including school children, parents, teachers, corporate partners and media.
Throngs of people crowded around numerous displays at the Wetlands Nature Carnival 2010. Hundreds of schools of Lahore participated in the Wetlands Nature Carnival by participating and putting up 3-D Models on the themes given by WWF Pakistan. About 60 stalls were set up by different schools displaying these models that depicted students’ hard work and knowledge about the environmental issues of Pakistan and how to curb them. The themes of Wetlands Nature Carnival included Blind Indus Dolphin, Industrial Waste and its Impact on Air and Water Pollution, Climate Change and Global Warming. The winners were awarded trophies and shields at the closing ceremony.
The chief Guest at the event was the Provincial Minister for the Education, Literacy, Excise and Taxation and Transport, Punjab, Mr. Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman. Speaking at the closing ceremony Mr. Mujtaba Shuja-ur Rehman congratulated WWF Pakistan on the success of the Annual Nature Carnival and was delighted to see the enthusiastic participation of the school children, teachers, parents, media, corporate sector and general public.
Highlights of the Wetlands Nature Carnival were activity stalls by NIDO, Nestle Pakistan and Pakistan International Airline’s essay and quiz competition. The winners were awarded International and domestic air tickets.
Marriyum Aurangzeb, Head Corporate Relations WWF Pakistan said that WWF Pakistan Nature Carnival is a means of reaching to the public to raise their awareness and understanding for the need to conserve, protect and manage Pakistan’s natural resources.
Moreover, the WWF Pakistan’s Wetlands Nature Carnival 2010 hosted activities included environmental puppet show, live musical performance, a magic show, environment games, nature art exhibition, debating and singing competitions which were a source of attraction for children and parents.
