Samad Dawood a pioneer in giving… ‘Wedding Salami’ donated to WWF Pakistan!
“It is well to give when asked, but it is better to give unasked, through understanding” Prophet, Khalil Gibran
On Saturday 23rd January 2010 Mr. Samad Dawood, CEO of Dawood Corporation announced, in a rare gesture donated Rupees 2.5 million to WWF Pakistan. Donations are not new to WWF, what made this particular donation unique and innovative is that the money was the ‘salami’ received by Samad and Ayesha Dawood at their wedding ceremony held at the beginning of 2010.

Mr. Samad Dawood and WWF Pakistan have been in partnership for few years and he has recently accepted the position as Chair of the Wetland Center Technical and Advisory Committee, which will oversee the management of the Wetlands centers. He is acutely aware, of and is sensitive to, the urgent need for ecological conservation not only in Pakistan but also around the world.

In addition to the above, Dawood Corporation has also supported many activities in WWF including the cleaning of Sandspit Beach, ensuring that turtles migrating to Pakistan every year can nest unhindered. This gesture is an inspirational message, not just to the corporate sector but also each individual to get actively involved in the conservation of Pakistan’s natural resources.

Mr. Ali Hassan Habib, Director General, WWF Pakistan who appreciated the gesture and stated that this donation will be considered as the seed money for the endowment fund supporting conservation activities at the Wetland Center, Sandspit, Karachi.

WWF family congratulates the newly wed couple and wishes them happiness and prosperity in their life together.
