Current Activities:




Appropriate BMPs (Better Management Practices) selected and tested.


Field trials have been initiated at research centers and farmers field to assess BMPs (Better Management Practices) solutions through cost –benefit analysis based on the data collected from trial plots.


Research Trials

Memorandums of Agreement were signed with the Water Management Institute, Ayub Agricultural Research Institute, Faisalabad for collaborative research and new trials have commenced.


Farmer Field Trials
Trials initiated at research centers are replicated in farmer fields to ground truth the results.

Promotion and Dissemination of Selected BMPs (Better Management Practices).


Curricula Development
For the first time in Pakistan Sugarcane Curricula for the training of ToTs and FFS participants was developed through participatory approach, keeping in mind the national and international agriculture demand of sugarcane.


Training of Trainers. ToT
31 dedicated and committed TOT participants belonging to the farming community, Agri. Extension Department, University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, Caritas-Pakistan, Faisalabad and different Farmer Organizations were selected.


Farmer Field Schools:
As a result of Participatory Rural Appraisal, villages were selected for the establishment of Farmer Field Schools. During 2007 approximately 225 farmers will be trained. BMP plots have already been established on farmers’ field.
