Shell commits to Earth Hour 2010

The highlight of the news item is that to support this global cause, Shell Pakistan will turn off all non-essential lights at Retail Stations, Depots, Installations and in our offices - Not compromising Safety or Security. 

As an energy company, Shell recognises three key challenges - '3 hard truths':

1. Energy demand will double up by 2050;
2. Supply will not likely catch up as quickly;
3. meeting demand and supply challenges have to be balanced alongside management of CO2 levels if we are to ensure the planet's sustainability.

To support this global cause, Shell Pakistan will turn off all non-essential lights at Retail Stations, Depots, Installations and in our offices - Not compromising Safety or Security. 

The lights at Shell House will shut off at 8:30pm on 27 March 2010 and remain closed for the duration of Earth Hour.

An offciial email was sent to all SHELL employees requesting staff to shut off their non-essential lighting at home during this time.
