Another breaking News your way. Our partner Shirkat Gah have also shown remarkable support and partcipation in observig Earth Hour 2010. The activities include:

Ms. Khawar Mumtaz, CEO Shirkat Gah's statement on this initiative is:

“At a time when Pakistan is suffering from the worst ever energy crises, electricity conservation is imperative. If people consciously put out all unnecessary light bulbs and electric appliances, and promote energy conservation in all other facets of life, it will not only save electricity but will also help mitigate the impact of the world's biggest environmental concern."

1. Offcial email has been sent to all the staff of Shirkat Gah across the country encouraging to register as a supporter on www.wwfpak.org/earthhour in their independent capacity

2. Offcial email is sent to 2300 contact of Shirkat Gah data base encouraging the support of their diverse nationwide organizational contacts and networks via our email database system

3. Shirkat Gah offices in Karachi, Peshawar and Lahore would be screening the Shirkat Gah documentary "The Unsung Peasant" simultaneously at 3:30 pm on Friday 26th March 2010. This documentary highlights the harm of modern agriculture and emphasizes the need for preservation of earth.

4. Three main offices of Shirkat Gah would be shutting off all non essential bulbs and electric appliances at 8:30 pm during Earth Hour. The staff has been encouraged to do the same at their homes and to spread the word
