MESSAGE OF CEO Pebbles FOR EARTH HOUR 2012
WWF has always been a major driving force in Pakistan towards identifying Global challenges of environmental change and energy crisis. And as, in Pakistan the problem of energy is more alarming than any other country of the world, it gives us an excellent opportunity to work hand in hand with each other towards accomplishment of this cause, which to my mind is noblest of all!
We all MUST UNDERSTAND, particularly our next generation that the environmental change, depletion of natural resources and the energy crisis are the biggest challenges which the world started to witness during the last couple of years. And let me warn you that these will continue to increase in its impact and volume, if we do not take preventive measures to over come these!
Here, I would also like to emphasize that there is a solution to every problem; it’s only the way, we take up the challenge!
We at Pebbles Private Limited, one of the companies of" The Dawood Group" spotted these problems and took up the task of sustainable developments with the slogan “Towards a Greener Pakistan”.
Pebbles being the sole sustainable development enterprise, is the only member company of United States Green Building Council in Pakistan that aims to achieve targets like; 50% reduction in energy consumption, 40% reduction in water consumption, improved indoor environmental quality, planned walk-able communities, and incorporation of renewable energy in all the developments that we have undertaken and would take on in the future.
I would also like to convey to my nation that the Pebbles has taken up this challenge by developing first of its kind sustainable community with the name “ecommunity housing” in the historic city of Skeikhupura and would like to invite all like-minded to come and visit our site not only to observe that how we have tried to reduce impact of these threats but also to evolve a strategy whereby we can jointly become part of the solution by improving further the sustainable practices in our beloved country.
I would once again like to thank WWF for its earth hour initiative and for promoting sustainable drills in Pakistan.
