Spellathon

Spellathon is a spelling test of environmental terms and issues, developed for children at English medium schools. The main aim is to increase children's awareness regarding environmental issues. Using high quality colourful information brochures, provided as part of the program, they can have fun while improving their spelling and gaining a greater knowledge of the environment. Children make a small donation to participate and receive special prizes according to their score on the quiz.

Since 1966, Spellathon has become a popular learning experience for many students from around Pakistan, helping to increase:

Awareness
Children learn about key environmental issues and the need for conservation.

Understanding
As students progress to a higher level each year their understanding of conservation issues increases and they become more inclined to support environmental causes later in life.

Education
Language skills, including comprehension and vocabulary are improved.
WWF-P is currently seeking sponsorship to fund an extension of this type of activity to Urdu medium schools.
