WWF – PAKISTAN ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY


WWF - Pakistan is a major nature conservation non-government organisation of the country. Its mission is to help stop the degradation of the country’s natural environment and to build a future in which humans live in harmony with nature, by:

• Conserving the country’s unique biological diversity
• Ensuring that the use of renewable natural resources is sustainable
• Promoting the reduction of pollution and wasteful consumption

The Environmental Policy of WWF – P is to:

• Assess the environmental impact of all its applicable operations (present and future).

• Ensure that its activities comply with all statutory requirements of environmental legislation and regulations.

• Aim for continual improvement in its environmental performances by setting and reviewing environmental objectives and targets.

• Set up an Environmental Management System (EMS) for implementing this Environmental Policy. This includes the organisational structure, responsibilities, practices, procedures and necessary resources.

• Reduce pollution, waste and consumption of natural resources and energy. Wherever possible, use renewable or recyclable materials and components.

• Provide information and appropriate training to its staff regarding the relevant aspects of environmental best practices.

• Liaise on a continuous basis with the local community, suppliers and contractors, with a view to positively influence them in terms of its Environmental Policy.

• Formalize, document, update and publicize its EMS to all interested parties, inside and outside the organisation.
