Advisory Group
An Advisory
Group of nine eminent professionals/academicians
has been formed to guide work in
ethnobotany which has evolved into
a National Ethnobotanical Society.
The group will advise the project
team on technical matters including
content of ethnobotanical courses
and the activities of resource centres.
Grants
Programme
The project
plans to award grants (both long
and short-term) on the control of
invasive weedy species, finding
solutions through the use of indigenous
knowledge, exploration of medicinal
plants through community participation,
ethnobotanical studies of plant
resources and their socio-economic
impact on local communities and
feasibility of community involvement
in the sustainable use of medicinal
plants.
Resource
Centres
Three resource
centres : Quaid-I-Azam University
Islamabad, Agricultural University
Peshawar and AJK University Muzaffarabad
have been established where identification
and review of resource persons to
compile the available works on applied
ethnoboany is in progress.
