Slims Survey & Data Base Managemen

SLIMS is a procedure of standard surveys and data base system for gathering, managing and disseminating information on the Snow leopard, its prey species and habitat, developed by the International Snow Leopard Trust, Seattle USA (ISLT).

All information regarding surveys conducted by the field staff for Snow leopard presence/absence is stored in the database and analysed qualitatively, whenever provided by the SLP team to the HQ in Peshawar.

 

SLIMS data is regularly maintained and updated on a quarterly basis. During the period, SLIMS data from Kuju, Tirich,Grour Gol and Kesu Gol in Chitral, Bashao, Gulkin, Bagheecha, Khyber in Northern areas and Mohodnad, Mataltan, Palogah and Usho in Kalam, Swat, were fed in to the SLIMS database.

The project is working closely with the GIS Lab, Lahore, to link the SLIMS database with GIS and to prepare digitised maps of these areas. The areas will be located and denoted by using different symbols of Snow leopard presence.
