WWF - Pakistan Lahore office becomes the first NGO office in the country to get the ISO 14001 certifications by SGS International.


 

 

WWF scientist wins Saarc Award 2002.
A senior scientist of World Wide Fund for Nature – Pakistan, Dr. Masil Khan, who is working as Project Officer, Environmental Pollution Unit, has been bestowed with the prestigious South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) Youth Award for 2002. The theme for this year was “Outstanding Contribution to Protect the Environment”. The award comprises a gold medal, a citation in English, and a cash prize worth $US 1500. Dr. Masil Khan has a doctorate in Impact of Sewage Sludge Borne Heavy Metals on Soil Microorganisms from the University of Wales Aberystwyth.

 

3rd Traveling Environmental Film Festival
The 3rd Traveling Environmental Film Festival concluded in all the major cities of the country, successfully raising the level on environmental issues to people from all walks of life. This festival is a regular event housed by TV center, communications division.
The environmental film festival, in collaboration with the Forum of Environmental Journalists, Pakistan, and TVE International first traveled to Karachi on the 25th-26th and later to Islamabad on the 30th-31st of October. Films produced in different countries highlighting environmental issues faced worldwide were screened to the viewers.

 

WWF launches SOS Planet campaign for World Summit on Sustainable Development

Gland, Switzerland - WWF, the conservation organization, launches a global multi-media campaign to urge political leaders to take action at the upcoming World Summit on Sustainable Development (WSSD) in Johannesburg.

Humans running up huge 'overdraft' with the planet says new WWF report
Lahore, 10 July: Standards of living and human development will start to fall by 2030 unless humans stop using more natural resources than the planet can replace, according to a new report released by WWF, the conservation organization, 49 days before the start of the World Summit on Sustainable Development (WSSD).

 

Marina Khan joins WWF - Pakistan as Goodwill Representative

Famous TV artiste Marina Khan has joined WWF as the Goodwill Representative of the Wetland Centre. It was announced the other day in a 'join in' ceremony held at the Wetland Centre, Karachi.
"WWF is doing a wonderful job and I want to help them out. Too many trees lost, too many species vanished and too many eyes have been blinded by what we perceive as progress. It is high time we stopped taking from Mother Nature and placed progress in the right perspective."
