Over 250 teachers from CDGK Elementary College of Education participated in World Fisheries Day Seminar


World Fisheries Day (WFD) is celebrated on Nov 21 every year. This day was declared by World Forum of Fisher Peoples (WFFP)—international organization working with fisher folk communities from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh.

400 school students and volunteers cleaned the turtle beach and marked formal inauguration of Green Learn-n-Fun – 2005

WWF- Pakistan, Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) and City District Government Schools jointly organized a beach cleaning activity on Saturday Nov 19, 2005 at Sandspit turtle beach, Karachi. This activity marked launching of Green Learn-n-Fun-2005 — an environmental education program for CDGK Schools.

Beach Cleaning Activity

WWF - Pakistan in collaboration with ICI - Pakistan and the Education Dept (Local Bodies Wing), City District Govt. Karachi (CDGK) is planning to organise a Beach Cleaning Activity on 28th August, 2004 between 8:00 am - 2:00 pm. This activity will be carried out in order to mark the turtle nesting season 2004 at the Sandspit turtle beach.
The Sanspit beach is world renowned for its two rare marine turtle species; the Green turtle and the Olive Ridley. These species regularly nest and visit the beach. WWF - Pakistan organises beach cleaning programmes each year with the CDGK schools.


WWF - Pakistan’s Wetlands Project

The Pakistan Wetlands Project proposal that was prepared on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Environment by WWF – Pakistan, was approved and its implementation will begin this summer. It’s a $12 million, seven year project and took nearly two years to be secured.




Karachi, 5 June

Marina Khan joins WWF as Goodwill Representative
Famous TV artist and avid animal lover, Marina Khan, joined WWF - Pakistan as the Goodwill Representative of the Wetland Centre and formally be took up the position at the Wetland Centre. The ceremony was organised by WWF - Pakistan to commemorate World Environment Day. This is for the first time that WWF - Pakistan is having any representative to promote any of its projects in Pakistan.



Funds Generated for Wetland Centre by International Students

The students of the International School of Karachi (formerly known as the American School) donated a generous amount of Rs. 32,505 to WWF - P's Wetland Centre, Karachi.




Syed Babar Ali Visits Wetland

Syed Babar Ali, President Emeritus WWF - P visited the Wetland Centre, Sandspit Karachi, on December 21, 2002. WWF - Pakistan board member Al Lee was also present on the occasion. Deputy Director General, WWF - P Dr Ejaz Ahmad, briefed him about different activities being performed at the Centre.
