Marina Khan joins WWF as Goodwill Representative

Karachi, 5 June:

Famous TV artist and avid animal lover, Marina Khan, joined WWF - Pakistan as the Goodwill Representative of the Wetland Centre and formally be took up the position at the Wetland Centre. The ceremony was organised by WWF - Pakistan to commemorate World Environment Day. This is for the first time that WWF - Pakistan is having any representative to promote any of its projects in Pakistan.
"Our world is a wonderful place but day by day we are destroying its natural resources. We should realize that if nature is letting us survive we should also let it live and grow," remarked Marina Khan during her orientation visit to WWF's Head Office in Lahore. "WWF - Pakistan has been working to conserve nature for the last thirty years. The Wetland Centre is also trying hard to save valuable natural resources and I am volunteering my time and talents as Wetland Centre's Goodwill Representative," she added.

WWF - Pakistan established a Wetland Centre right in the centre of the Sandspit mangroves in Karachi. The Centre has four components: public awareness & resource material development, training of field research staff, marketing and fundraising and information dissemination through a data resource unit. Resource material, such as posters, pamphlets, booklets and education packs have been developed for visitors. It conducts activities such as visits to mangrove sites, plantation, bird watching, turtle watching, seminars and workshops. It is also providing training on different sectors such as natural resource management and social mobilization.
